Your elegant journey on the Maharajas’ Express begins around 9:00 AM at Delhi’s Safdarjung station, where a traditional royal welcome awaits. After completing the check-in formalities, you’ll be guided to your well-appointed cabin—your private retreat for the days ahead. At about 10:35 AM, the train departs, and a rich breakfast is served as the scenic beauty of India begins to pass by your window.

As the train makes its way to Agra—the historic Mughal capital—you’ll receive a detailed onboard briefing about the journey ahead and the places you’ll soon explore.

By afternoon, you’ll arrive at one of the journey’s most iconic stops: the Taj Mahal. Known as a tribute to eternal love, this white marble marvel is also listed among the Seven Wonders of the World. Commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, it features intricate inlays and refined carvings that make it a symbol of architectural beauty and emotion.

Beyond the Taj, Agra holds many layers of Mughal history. Once the empire’s capital, the city is home to grand forts and lively bazaars that speak to its royal heritage. Don’t miss trying Agra’s beloved petha—a sweet treat made from ash gourd that’s unique to the region.

After this remarkable visit, you’ll return to the comfort of your train cabin. For those interested, optional activities can be arranged through the Guest Relations Executive, making sure every request is handled with care.

The Taj Mahal is more than a destination—it’s an introduction to India’s grandeur, setting the perfect tone for your royal journey aboard the Maharajas’ Express.

Monday, Day 2 – Agra and Ranthambore

Start your morning in Agra with a visit to the magnificent Agra Fort. Captured in the soft light of dawn, this red sandstone fortress offers a striking view and a strong reminder of the Mughal Empire’s presence in the city. After exploring its rich history and architectural details, return to the comfort of the Maharajas’ Express.

Back onboard, a relaxed and flavorful breakfast is served as the train rolls onward toward Ranthambore National Park. Enjoy the changing views outside your window while lunch is served en route.

By the afternoon, you’ll reach Ranthambore, once a royal hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur and now a protected national park established in 1973. Spanning over 1,334 square kilometers, the park’s diverse terrain—rivers, cliffs, lakes, and forest—makes it an ideal habitat for a wide range of wildlife.

Get ready for an exciting jeep safari through the park. With some luck, you may catch a glimpse of the Bengal Tiger. Other sightings may include leopards, sambar deer, chital, chinkara, nilgai, sloth bears, wild boars, hyenas, and jackals. The ride can be bumpy and dusty, so dress comfortably and carry warm layers if traveling in winter.

As evening falls, return to the train for a freshly prepared dinner. Relax in your cabin as the Maharajas’ Express continues its journey toward Jaipur, the vibrant ‘Pink City’ of Rajasthan.

Tuesday, Day 3 – Jaipur

Enjoy a calm and leisurely breakfast aboard the Maharajas’ Express as the train approaches Jaipur, famously known as the “Pink City.” This destination blends heritage and modern life, showcasing grand palaces, historic forts, and vibrant markets.

Upon arrival, a traditional royal welcome awaits, setting the perfect tone for your day in Jaipur. Your sightseeing begins with the Amber Fort, nestled in scenic, rugged hills. Built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I and later completed by Mirja Raja Singh, the fort combines Hindu and Mughal design influences. Its white marble and red sandstone structure makes a bold impression from the outside, while the interiors display detailed carvings, mirror work, and ornate halls.

A short jeep ride will take you up to the fort. Inside, visit the royal chambers and enjoy panoramic views from the fort walls. Walk through the Sheesh Mahal (Chamber of Mirrors) and the Hall of Victory, each corner reflecting a part of Rajasthan’s royal legacy.

Return to the train for lunch. Afterward, relax in your cabin or choose from optional experiences arranged through your Guest Relations Executive.

As the evening sets in, prepare for a special dinner at the historic Rambagh Palace Hotel. Once the residence of Jaipur’s Maharaja, this 189-year-old palace is now a luxury hotel that still reflects its regal past. Admire its carved marble details and graceful gardens as you enjoy your meal in a truly royal setting.

After dinner, return to the Maharajas’ Express by 9:00 PM as the train continues toward Bikaner.

Wednesday, Day 4- Bikaner

Start your day with a scenic ride through the countryside while enjoying a hearty breakfast on board.

On arrival in Bikaner, the desert citadel, you may either relax in your cabin with sweeping views or choose from optional experiences. Our Guest Relations Executive will be available to help arrange these.

Following your selected activity, return to the train for a delicious lunch. Later, step out to visit Junagarh Fort, a grand structure built by Raja Rai Singh in 1593 AD. Surrounded by a moat and solid walls, the fort’s exterior reflects strength, while inside, you’ll find stunning halls like Diwan-i-Khas, Hawa Mahal, Phool Mahal, Anup Mahal, and Badal Mahal.

Later, head to the Sand Dunes for a Sundowner experience. Camel carts decorated with vibrant fabrics and accompanied by folk musicians will escort you. Enjoy traditional barbecue dishes with cocktails and performances by Kalbeliyas and Langaas.

By 20:15, return to the Maharajas’ Express with unforgettable memories, as your journey continues toward Jodhpur.

Thursday, Day 5 – Jodhpur

The Maharajas’ Express moves deeper into the Marwar region, arriving in Jodhpur, famously called the ‘Blue City’ for its blue-painted houses that stand out against the desert setting. This city is a vibrant showcase of Rajasthani culture and traditions.

Start your morning with a refreshing breakfast served on board. Spend the early part of the day at your pace or choose from a list of optional activities. For any assistance, please reach out to the Guest Relations Executive.

Once done, return to the train for a relaxed lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the iconic Mehrangarh Fort, standing tall at 400 feet above the city. It is one of India’s largest forts and is known for its beautiful carvings, arched entrances, and jali windows that offer scenic views of Jodhpur.

Then, hop on a tuk-tuk for a ride to the lively Old Clock Tower Market. Walk through the market lanes, surrounded by the daily life of locals and views of traditional havelis.

As evening sets in, enjoy cocktails and a fine Marwar dinner at Khaas Bagh Hotel in a charming setting.

After this delightful experience, return to the Maharajas’ Express to continue your journey toward Udaipur.

Friday, Day 6 – Udaipur

Wake up to the scenic landscapes of Mewar, one of Rajasthan’s most prominent royal regions. Enjoy a relaxed breakfast on board the Maharajas’ Express as the train glides through the sunlit Aravali Hills toward Udaipur, the City of Lakes. Often called the “Venice of the East,” Udaipur is known for its serene lakes, grand palaces, and charming atmosphere.

After arrival, step off the train for a boat ride on Lake Pichola leading to the City Palace, the largest palace in Rajasthan. Set on the lake’s edge, the palace features scalloped arches, decorative domes, and intricate balconies. Begin your visit at Mor Chowk, famous for its three mosaic peacocks representing summer, monsoon, and winter. Then, move on to Moti Mahal, known for its fine mirror work, followed by Chini Mahal and Zenana Mahal. Chini Mahal’s hand-painted tiles feature detailed geometric and floral designs influenced by Rajput, Persian, and Mughal styles. Continue your exploration with the Crystal Gallery and Darbar Hall, guided by an informative audio guide.

After the palace tour, enjoy lunch at Satkar Hall in Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel, where the setting and service reflect Mewar’s regal past. The menu offers a mix of Indian and international dishes.

Later, return to the train. Spend your evening unwinding in your cabin or engaging in available activities as the Maharajas’ Express begins its final leg toward Mumbai.

Saturday, Day 7 – Mumbai

As your journey nears its end, enjoy one final morning aboard the Maharajas’ Express. Around 4:20 PM, the train will arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai, India’s dynamic financial capital. It’s time to bid farewell to the Maharajas’ Express, carrying with you the memories of your ‘The Indian Splendour’ experience.
